Tulsa French Drain Pros doesn't set prices, and none of these numbers are offers. They are here so a quote doesn't surprise you. Underground downspout lines are usually priced per foot like a shallow drain, plus the emitter or outlet; ask for that line item separately.

Tulsa vs. the national average

Why one source says $1,400 and another says $5,000.

The Tulsa figure is per foot

HomeBlue's $23–$36 per linear foot (May 2024) is the only published Tulsa-specific French drain range we found. It fits a typical exterior yard drain at moderate depth. A 60-foot run across a side yard lands around $1,370–$2,140 on that scale. Note that HomeBlue's own length totals don't exactly match its per-foot rate, so treat both as approximate.

The national figure is per project

Fixr's $2,800–$6,500 range (average about $5,000, Jan 2025) describes whole projects, which often mean longer runs, deeper trenches along a foundation, a sump or a dry well. If your job wraps around the house or ties several downspouts in, expect quotes closer to this range.

A realistic Tulsa budget depends on the yard. A short, shallow drain across open lawn with an easy path to the curb sits near the low end. A deep drain along a 1960s ranch with big oak roots, a driveway to cross and 80 feet to the street does not.

What drives French drain cost in Tulsa

  • Clay and depth. Dense Tulsa clay is slow to dig and hauls heavy. A deeper trench means more labor, more gravel and more spoil to remove.
  • Length. Most quotes scale with linear feet. The calculator below uses length as the main input for that reason.
  • Outlet distance. Water has to go somewhere legal, ideally the street or another approved conveyance. A long run to the curb adds pipe and trench. When there is no outlet, a pop-up emitter or dry well adds cost, and dry wells drain slowly in clay.
  • Tree roots. Mature trees are common on older Tulsa lots. Roots slow digging and may push the route around them.
  • Concrete or driveway cutting. Crossing a sidewalk, patio or driveway means saw cutting and patching. Work in the street right-of-way needs a separate city permit inside Tulsa.
  • Sod and landscape restoration. Sod runs about $1–$2 per square foot (Bob Vila, Jun 2024). Some quotes include it, some leave you with seed and straw.
  • Sump pump. If the low point can't drain by gravity, a sump pump runs $800–$2,000 (Fixr, Jan 2025), plus battery backup if you want it.
  • Permits. Inside Tulsa, the Watershed Development Permit rules cover excavating, grading and regrading. Suburbs have their own rules. Ask who pulls any permit and whether it's in the price.

Typical range: $1,200–$2,160

Planning figure from published ranges (HomeBlue May 2024; Fixr Jan 2025; Bob Vila Jun 2024). It excludes permits, concrete or driveway cutting, tree-root work, regrading and anything tied into plumbing. Tulsa quotes vary.

Honest ways to spend less

  • Fix the downspouts first. A lot of soggy Tulsa yards are roof water dumped in the wrong place. Extending or re-routing downspouts can shrink the problem, or the drain you need.
  • Price regrading before trenching. If the ground slopes toward the house, reshaping it may move surface water without a pipe. Ask contractors to quote both.
  • Phase it by area. Solve the spot that matters most, usually the side yard or the slab edge, then watch a season of storms before adding more.
  • Compare the same scope. Get two or three written quotes that list pipe type, fabric, gravel, depth, outlet and sod. Our guide on how to compare drainage quotes walks through it.
  • Be wary of pressure. If you sign at home, the FTC Cooling-Off Rule generally gives you three business days to cancel, and Oklahoma law gives a similar right for financed home-solicitation sales.

French drain cost questions

How much does a French drain cost per foot in Tulsa?

HomeBlue's Tulsa range is $23 to $36 per linear foot (May 2024). Bob Vila lists $20 to $30 per foot for a yard drain and $50 to $80 per foot around a house (Jun 2024). These are published estimates, not quotes. A drain that runs deep along a foundation, through roots or under concrete costs more per foot than a shallow trench across open lawn.

How much does a 100-foot French drain cost?

HomeBlue's Tulsa figures put 100 feet at about $2,290 to $3,570 (May 2024). Fixr's national exterior range for 100 feet runs higher, about $3,500 to $4,000 (Jan 2025). The gap reflects depth, materials and site conditions. Use the calculator on this page for a planning figure, then compare written quotes for your yard.

Why do Tulsa French drain quotes vary so much?

Every lot is different. Clay that is hard to dig, a long run to the street, tree roots, a sidewalk or driveway to cut, a pop-up emitter or dry well, and sod repair all add cost. Companies also differ on pipe, gravel and fabric. Ask each one to itemize so you can compare the same scope.

Is regrading cheaper than a French drain?

Sometimes. Fixr puts regrading at $1,500 to $2,600 per 1,000 square feet (Jan 2025). If water simply flows toward the house because the ground slopes the wrong way, regrading may solve it without a trench. If water seeps through the ground or the low spot has nowhere to go, a drain may still be needed. Ask contractors to price both.

Does the price include permits and sod?

Not always. Sod repair over a trench runs about $1 to $2 per square foot (Bob Vila, Jun 2024), and some quotes leave it out. Permit costs, if your project needs one, vary by city. Ask each contractor whether the quote includes permits, the 811 locate, sod or seed, and haul-off of extra dirt.
